It is May already!
April has been a fabulous month. The weather has been fantastic.
Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club has been veryctive. Sheila Sawtelle,
Eileen Shore and Beverly Mesler, with the help of the Easter Bunny
(Philip), put on a great Easter Egg Hunt and breakfast for the children
on the Saturday before Easter. The Easter Egg Hunt was a little
wet, but it did not dampen the spirits or the tenacity of the egg
hunters (two eggs were found that were left by last year’s bunny).
Easter Sunday Brunch was absolutely fantastic. Chef
Nick and the kitchen staff really outdid themselves and Dining Room
Manager Jill Thomas and her staff kept the tables ready through two
sittings.
Western night was fun for all with square dancing and
a barbecue dinner.
A collage of photos of each event is prepared and
placed in the lobby by Entertainment Chairs Chet and Sheila Sawtelle and
photos are run of various events on the monitor in the Ship's Wheel.
Boating activities at the Club have come in many
different sizes this past month. We've had the really small sailing
races on the pond out in front of the Club and the small sailing boat
program is moving forward. Seven of the large cruisers made their way to
Everglades city with stops at the yacht clubs in Naples and Marco
Island.
May will be a busy month also, starting with Boaters Breakfast
followed by the Blessing of the Fleet. Then at 4 p.m. the same day will
be our Kentucky Derby party where Teresa promises the best mint juleps
and Chef Nick is working on some authentic Kentucky recipes.
As our members with
homes in the north begin to leave us for the summer we wish them safe
travel and speedy return.
