We joined the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs in 1975 and our members now enjoy reciprocal privileges at 38 Clubs.

Thirty-two years have passed since our Founders began their quest and Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club is testimony to their vision.

Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club was founded in 1973 when 33 people pledged $1392 to pick up an option to buy a five acre piece of property overlooking Charlotte Harbor. Title was passed in September 1973 and groundbreaking for our Clubhouse took place on September 19, 1974.

In 2004, Hurricane Charley destroyed the clubhouse. The new building should be complete by the time 2006 rolls around and it is expected to be better than ever. With 180 new members expected this year (and this is with the club closed) and close to 1200 total, the Founders would be pleased to see how many people are enjoying this great facility. In fact, more than 50% of our current membership has joined in the last five years bringing new energy and ideas for the future.
